Location: New Plymouth, NZ
Hours: Full-time, minimum 30 hours per week (opportunity for extra hours)
Roster: Mix of day, night, and weekend shifts

Joe’s Garage New Plymouth is seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef with a clear pathway to Head Chef, or an established Head Chef ready to lead a strong kitchen team.

About the Role

As part of our kitchen team, you will:

• Lead and support the kitchen team on a day-to-day basis

• Deliver consistent, high-quality food using established Joe’s Garage systems

• Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen standards

• Stay calm under pressure and lead by example

• Work closely with management to drive a positive team culture

Menus, recipes, suppliers, and systems are already in place through our franchisor, so your focus can be on leading the kitchen—not paperwork.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a great fit if you can say yes to most of the following:

• Experience in a busy hospitality kitchen

• Confidence with food preparation, cooking, and plating

• Strong understanding of food safety standards

• Knowledge of kitchen cleaning and maintenance

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a Senior Chef, Sous Chef, Head Chef, or Executive Chef

• Calm, reliable, and hardworking

• Ability to lead a small kitchen crew

• Positive attitude and strong team focus

• A hands-on approach—ready to get the work done
